Three customers, on camera: what switching actually feels like

Matthew and Victoria in Evanton, Annette Mercer and John Macpherson in Inverness — real McInnes customers describing life after the install, in their own words.

Brochure claims are easy. So this year we asked three sets of customers to say on camera what their systems are actually like to live with — unscripted, in their own homes. The videos now sit across the site; here’s who you’ll meet.

Matthew and Victoria — Evanton, Highlands

A family home north of Inverness, previously heated by an ageing oil boiler, now running on a Vaillant Arotherm Plus 12kW air source heat pump. Their words, not ours: the house is always warm — with plenty of hot water for the kids. The full story, including the install photos and the video, is on the Evanton case study.

Annette Mercer — Inverness

Solar PV with battery storage. Annette’s favourite piece of evidence is her smart meter — showing the house barely drawing any electricity from the grid at all — and the bill that followed it. Her video is on our solar PV page.

John Macpherson — Inverness

Also solar plus battery, and the detail that stuck with us: checking the battery at 20% in the morning after it had run the house all day and evening without touching the grid. John’s video is on the battery storage page.

Why we publish these

Anyone can write “our customers love us” on their own website. Video is harder to fake and easier to judge — you can hear tone, see the house, and decide for yourself whether it sounds like your situation. It’s the same reason our case studies only carry facts we can stand behind: real systems, real buildings, and numbers only where the customer is happy to share them.

More are coming — air conditioning and a whole-home retrofit are next on the list. If you’re a McInnes customer and you’d be happy to talk on camera, we’d love to hear from you.
